Peace Plus One
It’s been an adventurous first year in the life of the Sustainability Symbol… it seems like much longer, but looking back - we only introduced the 3 finger symbol on February 1st 2007!
We have learned so much and enjoyed sharing the idea of balancing Society, Environment and the Economy - something that almost everyone knows in their heart, but we sometimes forget to include in our decisions.
This time of year we are reminded that everything we ARE, everything we SEE and everything we successfully ACHIEVE is a result of love and passion.
We hope everyone we know (and 3 people beyond) share their love and passions this holiday season, bringing Peace, Plus One-ness.
Together we can make a difference - in our Society, our Environment and our Economy.

Next year, September 27th 2008, World Tourism Day will be hosted by PERU, and the Sustainability Symbol will be proudly displayed by Veronica Wicks of Tucano Peru. (see below)

It’s Official - We’re in a Planetary Emergency, and most of the population and its leaders have their heads buried in the sand.
When I read Al Gore’s acceptance speech, I was not only impressed, but also moved to make parallels between his calls to action and projects and programs I’ve developed over the years.
Peppered through the FULL TRANSCRIPT below are my notes related to promoting sustainable thinking, sharing the Sustainability Symbol, and taking concrete action - individually and in committed groups.
I got real “charge” when I discovered this backpack/briefcase is made from recycled old soda pop bottles.

In addition to the 3 fingers signifying individual “Self-certification” as a Climate Change Agent - (someone who is part of the SOLUTION to Climate Change and Global Warming - through the sharing of the Sustainability Symbol) our efforts include at least one specific project:
“STOP the GLOFs”
STOP the GLOFs is an effort to bring global attention to NEPAL, where 3,000 Glaciers are rapidly melting in that tropical zone, creating disasterous GLOFs (Glacial Lake Outburst Floods or Vertical Tsunamis).
